Book your Bridal trial with Ruth Elizabeth - Makeup Artist Leicester

With 2015 now well under way, many ladies who are getting married this year are now looking at booking a Bridal makeup artist.

What should you expect from your Bridal trial?

At your Bridal trial:
I always recommend that you come to your Bridal trial, wearing a top that is of similar colour to your Wedding outfit.
If you are wearing an, Ivory/Champagne dress - come to your trial wearing a similar colour.
If you are wearing a Maroon top, with Gold beading - again, come to the trial wearing colours that match.
It's easy for a trained Makeup artist's eye to see past your outfit colours, and know that the colours he/she are using at the trial will match your Bridal outfit, but if you are wearing an Ivory gown on your big day - and attend your Bridal trial wearing Black, you may not be so sure. Always remember, you switch makeup when you go out, to match your outfit - Bridal makeup is just the same, and all the more important.

Flick through some Magazines and Makeup books for some inspiration

When attending your Bridal trial, always remember that on your big day, your make-up will need to have enough colour to compensate for the whiteness of your dress. There’s a big difference between everyday clothes and a wedding dress, so there should be a difference in the makeup too.
If you look closely at alot of Brides who are wearing Ivory/White dresses ( with the exception of warmer/tanned skins ) - you will notice they almost always ( or should! ) have pink/rosy tones to the cheeks and lips.
White/Ivory can be very draining on many skin tones/complexions - so using pinks/plums and even reds, will help inject some colour back into the skin and contrast beautifully with the Wedding dress.

Bridal trials are best done either during the morning or afternoon. Natural daylight is the best light to apply makeup - and to see how it will look on the day. Fluorescent lighting creates a yellow undertone to the skin - so once you get into the daylight, the makeup will look completely different.

One very important tip on the day of your bridal trial is not to obsess with 'selfies'
Remember, that the photographer you have booked for the day, is a professional - and will know the right lighting etc to ensure you are looking your best. Taking hundreds of Iphone photos will soon have you obsessing over every little detail!
Most Bridal makeup artists will take a photgraph of your makeup after your trial is complete, for makeup reference for the actual Wedding day. They also take them to ensure that the makeup applied is suitable for photography.

Don't forget on the day, you will have your hair done, your makeup on - and your dress on - try and visualise yourself ready on the Wedding morning - you won't be getting married in your jogging bottoms, with your hair scraped up!
I always try to remind brides to be at trials - visualise yourself getting ready for a night out - you never feel complete when just your makeup is done, or just your hair - or when you only have your outfit on, and neither hair and makeup done. It's only when all the key elements are together - and you finally get those shoes on, you feel a million dollars!

Makeup for photography, and everyday makeup  - also differs, and a trained Makeup arist should explain this to you. This is why, ideally, Makeup trials should be done in natural light, not flourescent lighting. Lip colours and cheek colours used, should be a little warmer, or brighter - again to compensate with the Bridal dress - but also, flash photography will take a lot of the colour out of your makeup - so don't be scared to add a little more colour than you normally would and adding a little more blusher than you would normally.
