Feed your skin - Week one

With the winter months, well and truly upon us - I think I can safely say, my skin is in sufficient need of pampering!

A solid, bespoke skincare regime will work wonders for your skin, and it goes without saying, if your skin is in good condition, the makeup you apply to it will look all the better.

I always encourage brides to be during makeup trials, to adopt a skincare regime, that fits in comfortably with their lifestyle.
Your skincare regime needs to be as individual as you are, catering for any specific concerns ensuring the best possible results.

See your skin as a canvas - an artist wouldn't create a beautiful masterpeice on a rough, unprepared canvas - so why would you do the same with makeup?
Makeup can only do so much - the skin beneath it, will eventually determine what the makeup will look like, short and long term.

Adopting a solid skincare regime, a good few months before your Wedding date, will ensure you are glowing on the day.

A good skincare regime will,
Plump the skin, reducing the look of fine lines and any dryness
Improve the general appearance/brightness/texture of the skin
By pinpointing specific ares of concern, you can help rid acne, and improve un-even skin tone.

It goes without saying, eating well, reducing sugar intake - and drinking plenty of water will also vastly improve the appearance of your skin.

As well as your basic cleansing/toning an moisturising, there are a few other products I recommend to my brides to be, during a bridal trial.
Each week, I will be posting up a different skin care product, to help prepare your skin for your big day.

Night creams/Face oils
Choose a skin cream or skin oil - for specific use, at night. While you sleep, your skin repairs and regenerates, so this is the perfect time for any skin care to get to work.
I'm a huge fan of skin oils, as they help balance the skin - so are perfect for all skin types.
If you have oily, blemish prone skin - a face oil will help control oil production, thus helping improve blemishes and texture.
If your skin is drier, it will help hydrate. Its a win, win situation.
I have a few favourites, Decleor and Bobbi brown being my top two, but these are also very pricey.
If you are on a budget try Sanctuarys, Therapists Secret Facial oil from Boots.
Essentail oils are not cheap, so expect to pay anything from £14.00 upwards for a small bottle, but use sparingly, massaging into your skin every night.

Bobbi Brown - EXTRA Face oil - £42.00
Sanctuarys - Facial Oil - £17.50
Decleor Aromessence - From £33.00 upwards
Loreal Age Perfect - From £13.32 upwards

Note - don't be tempted to go and buy you own mix of essentials oils, and apply directly to the skin - a carrier oil, such as almond oil/olive oil etc must be used to dilute the oils before application.

How to apply.
Apply a couple of drops to the palms of your hands, to warm - then massage into the skin, in upwards motions. Ensure your skin is cleansed beforehand - Massaging will help improve circulation, helping rid skin of toxins.
Skin oils absorb faster through hair follicles - so don't be tempted to keep applying more, only a small amount is needed.

Skin renewal depends on each person, but the general rule is, the younger you are, the quicker your skin repairs.
The results of a new skin care regime can take anything from 4-8 weeks - so be patient, and perservere.
Skin oils are a fantastic addition to any skincare regime, helping create a beautiful, supple canvas for makeup application.

NEXT WEEK - EXFOLIATION.
